Adult Center Membership Dues

Basic membership dues for the Adult Center are $50 per year. Add-on memberships also are available for unlimited use of the pocket billiards room and the fitness center. Each of those are an additional $50. Basic members can still use the fitness and billiards rooms for an additional cost of $2.50 per day.  Members are issued a membership card good for one calendar year from the date they join.

Why the Adult Center Charges Membership Dues and Activity Fees

Unlike most community centers that are owned and/or managed by the cities in which they are located, the Adult Center is not a part of the City of Prescott.

As such, the Adult Center is responsible for the costs associated with conducting the many day-to-day activities that take place within the facility.  For example, while the City incurred the majority of the expenses in building the new Community Center, it was the Adult Center’s responsibility to furnish the new building, which we did to the tune of about $300,000.

The Adult Center also contributed an additional $300,000 to defray some of the city’s costs to build the new Community Center in 2006.

Staff members are not paid by the City of Prescott. Their salaries are paid from membership dues, activity fees, and other sources of revenue. Non-city funds are also required to pay utility bills and other day-to-day costs of operating the facility.

Likewise, the Adult Center must hire instructors to conduct the many educational and recreational activities that we offer. While we strive to keep activities fees as low as possible, we need to charge appropriate fees to ensure the continued financial viability of the Adult Center.

Non-Member Use of the Adult Center

Non-members may still participate in any of the Adult Center activities for a daily fee of $5.00. Non-member fees for billiards or the fitness center are an additional $2.50 per day. Class registration fees for non-members incorporate the additional $5.00 day fee.
